A Baltimore County police officer has died after she was shot Monday afternoon while responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle in suburban Perry Hall, according to Maryland Governor Larry Hogan.
The policeman, who is yet to be named, was gunned down while investigating a suspicious vehicle in the area.
Authorities say a Baltimore County police officer who was fatally injured while investigating a suspicious vehicle had been on the force for nearly four years.
He says police from several agencies backed by federal law enforcement are widely searching the area for "multiple suspects" who are possibly armed.
The officer was transported to MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore where she was pronounced dead at 2:50 p.m.
"Our prayers go out to this fearless officer's family, @BACOPoliceFire, and the Baltimore County community", a portion of Gov. Hogan's tweet said.
She is the tenth Baltimore County officer to die in the line of duty, and the department's first female officer to die in the line of duty.
Sheridan said the officer was wearing an activated body camera that investigators are examining.
