Police believe the woman had been dragged into the lake by an alligator while walking her dogs, Friday morning.

Local media report officers found a dog on a leash but no signs of the woman at Silver Lakes Rotary Nature Park.

Shizuka Matsuki, 47, of Plantation was the woman who was pulled into a lake by a gator while she was out walking her dogs, the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission said. Dale Engle said no divers could search the water until the alligator was captured.

Florida's Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission said an examination of the alligator revealed evidence indicating the victim was bitten and killed. Davie police said that one of them was injured by a gator.

A witness saw the woman walking her dogs and then noticed she was suddenly gone, WSVN reported.

Also investigating were officers from the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Authorities closed the park Friday, but passers-by said they were not surprised to hear about an alligator lurking in the water.
