President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Tuesday in Singapore.

President Donald Trump jokingly asked reporters to make him and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un look "nice, handsome, and thin".

He added that he and Kim discussed how relations were much different between previous American presidents and Kim's ancestors Kim Jong Il and Kim Il Sung.

In the aftermath of the Singapore summit, the anti-Trump talking point is that Trump accomplished nothing of effect.

"It's hospitality that we would have offered them, and as Chairman Kim said yesterday, he would have liked to have come to Singapore anyway, with or without the summit", Dr Balakrishnan said in an interview with the BBC. "And he has that opportunity, and he won't have that opportunity again".

Mr Trump and Mr Kim promised to work towards building "a lasting and stable peace" on the Korean peninsula and to repatriate remains of prisoners of war and those missing in action during the Korean War. "They're gonna put it together, and I think they're going to end up with a very strong country, and a country which has people-that they're so hard working, so industrious".

"We are proud of Otto and miss him", the parents said in a statement.

It also did not mention points raised later by Mr Trump around the abduction of Japanese citizens, human rights abuses or the withdrawal of USA troops.

In its first report on the landmark summit the official KCNA news agency ran a glowing dispatch on the talks describing them as an

"Trump suspending joint drill between the USA and South Korea shows sincerity", said Lu Chao, an expert in North and South Korea relations at the Liaoning Academy of Social Science.

Backdrops of US and North Korean flags, both red white and blue, were also prominent in the Rodong Sinmun, which has previously lashed the United States as a "gangster-like imperialist", and "cancer-like entity".

The declaration signed at the end of the summit said the two countries would co-operate towards "new relations", while the U.S. would provide "security guarantees" to North Korea. But he added that he hoped to speak to North Korea about the Cold War-era abductions of Japanese citizens by North Korean spies. "I said, I have something to say from North Korea".

Kim said there would be a "major change" in the world.

"We would like to seek an understanding of this between Japan, the USA and South Korea", Onodera was quoted as saying.

Trump faces Japanese pressure to keep sanctions in place, and a push by China to lift them.

"If Trump will succeed in bringing about the dismantling of North Korea's ballistic missile capabilities, Europe can not argue anymore that it is not possible to get a better deal with Iran than what was already reached", he said.
