Karius makes another error as Liverpool survive Tranmere comeback

Speaking to Liverpool FC's website, Klopp said: "I'm not sure if I should have expected something different but it [the reception from fans] was nice, absolutely nice".

Loris Karius may be feeling the pressure from Liverpool fans, but the goalkeeper has the full backing of his manager Jurgen Klopp.

The 25-year-old has produced yet another embarrassing error during a friendly against Tranmere on Tuesday evening, fumbling a free-kick to hand Jonny Smith a tap in from close range.

Liverpool went on to win the friendly 3-2.

The German added that Karius will continue to be criticised until "he has a few fantastic games".

The mishap from Karius follows a similar mistake he made in Liverpool's warm-up against Chester and the two game-altering mistakes he made in Liverpool's 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in last season's Champions League final.

"Let's carry on and make the best of the situation and learn from it".

"You can stop (the criticism) by not asking, promise?" he told journalists at Tranmere.

It appears that one of the Tranmere players wasn't too impressed with Karius' howler, and he showed him little sympathy.

"We can not change that". That's our part of the deal.

'It's obvious, we don't have to hide it, yes, he could have made that save. I saw this situation 500 times in my life: "the ball hits his chest but what can you do?" But that shot, it was not easy to deal with it.
