"It is incredibly hard to get podcasts hosted on Spotify", the tweet stated alongside a screengrab of the show's episodes, hosted by its alt-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.

"[This] will play into Alex Jones's narrative that he's being censored by this liberal cabal of Silicon Valley powerful companies", she said.

While one of my legal clients (a 17 year old teen) was being interviewed by one of the most competitive colleges in the country he was asked why he was following Alex Jones on Twitter. Seeing as the company has been so vocal lately about trying to curb "troll-like behaviors" and working to "reduce people's ability to detract from healthy public conversation", it seems like they'd be on board with banning someone who has built his career on harassing the parents of murdered children as well as teenage school shooting victims, who uses his platform to spread risky and hateful misinformation.

What's more, Twitter's vice president for trust and safety Del Harvey reportedly said in an internal email that if Jones had demonstrated some of the behavior on Twitter that he had on Facebook and YouTube, he would definitely have been booted.

"If we succumb and simply react to outside pressure, rather than straightforward principles we enforce (and evolve) impartially regardless of political viewpoints, we become a service that's constructed by our personal views that can swing in any direction", Jack writes. "And we'll continue to promote a healthy conversational environment by ensuring tweets aren't artificially amplified", Dorsey said in a series of tweets on Tuesday.

"Battle of giants" looms as France hosts Ryder Cup

While I am not a listener or supporter of Mr. Jones', his audience has every right to watch his videos and listen to him and connect with him online. Family members of some of the victims are suing Jones for defamation.

This response would be bad enough if Twitter didn't ban accounts for far less across seemingly arbitrary lines (which they do).

The right to free speech does not include the right to harass and persecute innocent people, as Jones has done numerous times - including his attempts to target survivors of the Parkland school shooting.

At the same time, we're learning more and more about how digital platforms were used as tools to spread false information and influence both the 2016 USA presidential election and the UK Brexit referendum.

Twitter has drawn public outcry for not removing Jones' account.
