Police in CT executed search warrants and arrested three people on Thursday after 100 people allegedly overdosed on K2 this week in and around New Haven's historic village green next to Yale University.
Most of the overdoses were on the New Haven Green, a popular, historic downtown park that borders part of Yale University, and officials said they expected the overdose total to increase.
In fact, some people overdosed and had to be transported as many as three times. "Hopefully, today brings a different light", city Office of Emergency Management Director Rick Fontana told The New Haven Register.
Fontana said the K2 analysis was done by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, which responded to assist local police investigating the cluster of overdoses.
As was the case on Wednesday, the synthetic drug K2 was suspected. "We also have representatives with the DEA here".
Campbell also said two other people were arrested - one by New Haven police and one by federal authorities - but investigators were trying to determine whether they were connected to the overdoses. The identities of those people weren't immediately released.
He said state health officials delivered 50 doses of naxolone to the city to help replenish its supply.
Drugs, particularly fentanyl, are now deadlier in the United States than either HIV, vehicle crashes or guns, the report said.

OnePlus has had success by bucking the trend and selling direct to consumer, but it's barely made a dent in the overall market. Still, if you've been hoping for carrier support for OnePlus before you pick one up, that wait may be coming to an end soon.

Fire Department first responders were handling so many calls that they were experiencing "compassionate-care fatigue" and had to be rotated off the engine companies, said New Haven Fire Chief John Alston. A public defender said there was no proof linking any drugs Parker may have had to the overdoses.
A similar incident occurred on July 4 when more than a dozen people in the same park were treated for sicknesses related to synthetic marijuana, The Associated Press reported.

Officials continue to look into the cases, which appeared to center on the New Haven Green on Wednesday. I have spoken with Mayor Harp and assured her that the state remains committed and ready to assist their response efforts wherever needed. I'm extremely grateful for the timely and effective work of first responders who helped revive, transport, and save these victims.
It has been blamed for other mass overdoses across the country. Some people were unconscious, others were semi-conscious.
