Game recognize game. LeBron James is the world's most famous basketball fan and he took notice of the huge Game 3 of the WNBA Finals on Wednesday night as the Seattle Storm won the championship with a 98-82 victory over the Washington Mystics.

Stewart, the 2018 WNBA MVP, directed Seattle to its second-best record (26-8) in franchise history and the top seed in the WNBA Playoffs.

Elena Delle Donne scored 23 points for the Mystics.

She concluded, "Going into game three we are trying to execute".

For years, Bird has sidestepped talk about when she'll put an end to a Hall-of-Fame bound career that includes two NCAA titles at CT, four Olympic gold medals, three FIBA world championships and four EuroLeague championships.

Bird hasn't talked about retirement, and based on her success this season and Stewart's hope that they win more titles together it isn't coming for at least a few more years. They said so time and again after losing Game 3 of the WNBA Finals Wednesday and falling to Seattle in a 3-0 sweep. They became the first team since the Seahawks in 2012 to bring a championship to Seattle. After going up 2-0 against Phoenix, Seattle needed five games to close out a feisty Mercury squad.

No one mentioned it publicly during the five-month run up to the WNBA Finals because they knew Sue Bird wouldn't approve.

In her MVP summer, Stewart ranked second in the league in scoring (21.8), third in rebounding (8.4), seventh in blocked shots (1.44), and eighth in steals (1.35) during the regular season. "She's kind of helped me get to this point, and like you said, if there was one person on this team that I wanted to win it with it was her".

This is the third championship for the Seattle Storm.

Stewart saved her best for last and scored 30 points - a career high for the playoffs - on 11-of-22 shooting, including 4 of 5 three-pointers. She also made a WNBA-high 106 three-pointers, shot a league-leading 92.5 percent from the free throw line and finished fourth in assists (5.3 apg).

Despite losing in their first Finals appearance in the team's 21-year history, Thibault and the Mystics know that the 9,000-plus fans who traveled 20 miles outside of Washington, D.C., and piled into Eagle Bank Arena know their team, for the first time in nearly a decade, has a bright future. I didn't know if I'd be playing at this point.

"We feel like we have a lot of young, great talent", Delle Donne said. Stewart had 25 points in each of the first two meetings but was held to 10 in the final matchup.

Despite the misfires, Washington rallied from down 18 points to trailing 72-67 with 6:49 remaining.

"There was a moment at the end with like a minute or so left, I think it was the last timeout when we had a chance to huddle and I said, 'Guys we did this".
