Griezmann, 27, stated he should be mentioned in the same breath as Messi and Ronaldo for his achievements in the wake of his FIFA "The Best" award snub.
Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has hit out at Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann following the Frenchman's claims that he is on a level with his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as his perennial rival Lionel Messi.
The World Cup-winning France forward missed out on the three-man shortlist for FIFA's The Best award, the victor of which will be announced on September 24, but he is nevertheless feeling confident of his chances of being named the world's best player later in the year.
"Yes, I think I am now perceived in that light", said Griezmann in an interview with AS.
"Ignorance makes you very bold", he said.
"Cristiano and Messi are above everyone", Forlan told Cadena Ser. "Griezmann is still not at their level".
"When I listen to this guy talk I remember Totti, Xavi, Raul, Iniesta, Iker. players who have many titles and they don't have this individual award [Ballon d'Or]".
"Being at that table is a vision I have but I also know that I can do better". I want to be the most complete I can be. And I know other players are going to come for sure.
"Those three Champions League wins are not coincidence, you have to maintain the ambition to want to win". But the French hitman remains upbeat about his chances for the highly-coveted Ballon d'Or trophy.
"Everyone is free to express their opinion but I think he should take the advice of (Diego) Simeone, (Diego) Godin or Koke who represent the values that serve them [Atletico Madrid] well". I've always said he's a good player'.
"I trust them and we contribute to each other a lot".
