The Pixel 3 XL is expected to come in a 6.2-inch QHD+ (1440×2880 pixels) display option, while a 5.5-inch display is expected to be sported on the Pixel 3. It's these kinds of small design changes that give the phones a much more refined look than last year's Pixel phones. However, a clean and efficient launch, focused on technological innovations and delivering ever powerful artificial intelligence in the pockets of its consumers, ensured that Google conducted one of the most impactful and successful launches of this year.

This development comes at a time Google is seeing its market share shrink in India. It's clear that Google is trying its hardest to one-up Apple.

Let's get this out of the way first: yes, the massive rumoured notch is real, and it's only on the Pixel 3 XL.

Everyone has been hyping artificial intelligence for so long now that it's easy to get tired of the hyperbole. It uses machine learning to carry out many important functions, and introduced user gestures to speed up navigation. This is the news we wanted to hear! We've been repeatedly misunderstood when attempting to issue simple voice commands.

Google has maintained the size of these two flagship smartphones exceptionally well by incorporating slimmer bezels and giving an nearly full display of the phone.

The first thing you'll want to consider is the display, even though they're almost the same size.

You can also use Google lens through the camera to "scan and translate text, find similar styles of clothing, or identify popular plants and animals".

When we saw the Google Duplex demo earlier this year we were blown away. The brand new A.I. can create and produce natural conversation and can book your table in any restaurant. Deciding which one you want is the hard part. But it will work according to what you will tell it to speak or do. We don't doubt it could beat the Turing test, provided the topic didn't stray too far from booking your appointment.

Google has been officially announced its Google Pixel Slate on Tuesday, October. Given the Nest Hello Doorbell isn't yet on-sale in Australia we'll have to wait a little while longer to see the benefits of this.

The Digital Wellbeing side of Android Pie is also spreading, with Google bringing the feature to all their new phones, smart speakers and Smart Displays. The caller will be going to listen this "Hi, the person you're calling is using a screening service from Google, and will get a copy of this conversation". The screen will go dark when you sleep and slowly brighten as your alarm goes off, filling the room with light and saving you from an abrupt and unwelcome wake-up call.

One of the biggest arms races for smartphones in the last couple of years, and easily the biggest area of improvement, has been the camera.

Both devices have high-end rear cameras - but the Pixel 3's is probably better.

For all intents and purposes, Google left the rear camera pretty much the same in the Pixel 3 XL as in the Pixel 2 XL.

Google's Made by Google event officially kicked off with snippets of YouTube videos revealing the leaked Google products, then followed by an embarrassed emoji. "The very first image search came from this technology group".

But how does the Pixel 3 actually compare to its predecessor, the Pixel 2? Within, there's a feature called Top Shot; when AI comes into the picture to sieve out the best photo (whereby everyone is smilling without the possiblity of their eyes shut) when the series in shot in motion. At least that is what it does for now when you choose to hide its notch through the developer menu.

Rival Samsung took the opportunity take jabs at Google and its notch design for Pixel 3.

In all, the slightly larger display size on the Pixel 3 isn't really enough alone to warrant an upgrade. It's like a super-charged version of predictive text that could genuinely save you a lot of time. For the keyboard folio, you'll be shelling out another $199 and if you want/need that Google pen another $99.
