"Her parents died from gunshot wounds, that's why we're ruling this a homicide", Fitzgerald explained.

"Is it random or targeted?" I don't know that answer.

Authorities said they determined this by analyzing evidence at the scene and the 911 call that was placed early Monday morning, when James and Denise Closs were found dead and Jayme was reported missing.

"Grandpa Jim (James) Closs, your Momma Bear, Denise Closs and your very own night [in] shinning armor, your Daddyo Jim JR Closs ... love all of you!"

Investigators have received about 400 tip calls from across the nation.

"We all know that these things just don't happen here", Fitzgerald said, adding that there will be an extra presence of law enforcement officers in town. Meanwhile, deputies searched the area around the family's home with drones and infrared equipment and talked to Jayme's friends and middle school classmates, hoping to develop some leads.

"There comes a time in every community when help is needed; we have certainly experienced that need for help", said Wausau Police Chief Ben Bliven. Jayme Closs has seemingly vanished into thin air.

As Wisconsin authorities desperately search for missing 13-year-old Jayme Closs, they are now asking for volunteers to help look for more evidence.

Authorities have described Jayme as a 5-foot-tall, 100-pound 13-year-old girl with strawberry-blonde hair and green eyes.

However, investigators with the Barron County Sheriff's Office say that the tip is not credible. The media are not invited.
