The calls used derogatory remarks aimed at Winfrey and Stacey Abrams, the Democratic possibility for Georgia senator.

They published a story Sunday just as Kemp's office released the statement accusing the Democrats of attempted hacking.

"This political stunt from Kemp just days before the election is yet another example of why he can not be trusted and should not be overseeing an election in which he is also a candidate for governor", said Rebecca DeHart, executive director of the Democratic Party of Georgia. In a highly unusual situation, Kemp has also faced criticism for the way he has overseen the election that will decide his state's highest office. Throughout the campaign he has refused to do so. "We can also confirm that no personal data was breached and our system remains secure".

The results of the governor's race will tell us everything about what that future is going to look like - in the state of Georgia and around the country.

"The way the website is set up, once you get access to your own voter record, you can go in and change permissions and get access to anyone's voting records", DeMillo said.

The suit included allegations that the voter registration system was discriminatory, citing the cancellation of around 34,000 people's registration status between 2010 and 2013.

One of those experts, University of MI computer scientist Matthew Bernhard, told AP that any user logging onto the system - all that's needed is the personal information of a single voter - could access and alter the records of anyone in the system. DeHart called it a "political stunt" to cover up the weaknesses in a system Kemp runs.

David Cross, however, an attorney who has been involved in cybersecurity-related litigation against the Georgia Secretary of State's office, said he was also alerted to the potential vulnerabilities by the same individual who contacted the Georgia Democratic Party.

"Georgia is a safer, Georgia is stronger, and Georgia is winning like never before", Trump said.

The FBI declined to comment on the matter.

"The eyebrow-raiser will be if Democrats pick up a South Dakota, Kansas, Oklahoma - these sort of very, very red (Republican) states", Duffy said, noting local dynamics, rather than national politics, were mostly responsible for Republican weaknesses.

A voice heard in the hostile chronicle, which was broadcast on CNN, told audience members: "This is the magical negro, Oprah Winfrey, asking you to make my fellow negress, Stacey Abrams, governor of Georgia".

Kemp's campaign said the Democrats tried unsuccessfully to expose vulnerabilities in Georgia's voter registration system. This was a 4th quarter Hail Mary pass that was intercepted in the end zone. "These power-hungry radicals should be held accountable for their criminal behavior".

Kemp's office did not respond to StateScoop's request for more details on the alleged hacking.
