President Donald Trump gets into an exchange with CNN reporter Jim Acosta during a news conference a day after the midterm elections in the East Room of the White House in Washington, on November 7, 2018.

The mainstream media for days has been claiming, "without evidence,"* that a clip of CNN's Jim Acosta tangling with a 98-pound White House intern was somehow "doctored".

But White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders claimed that Acosta had "placed his hands" on an intern who had attempted to take the microphone away from him.

The White House Correspondents' Association released a statement Wednesday saying it "strongly objects to the Trump Administration's decision to use U.S. Secret Service security credentials as a tool to punish a reporter with whom it has a hard relationship".

Trump said he hadn't made a decision when asked by a reporter how long Acosta would remain in the "penalty box". He started off his exchange with the president by saying that he will "challenge" Trump on his description of the migrant caravan.

Trump called Acosta a "rude, bad person" and an "enemy of the people" at Wednesday's post-election question-and-answer session with reporters. "But I watch you a lot and you ask a lot of stupid questions", Trump said, jabbing his finger at her before turning and walking away.

The president then moved to address the next questioner, NBC News White House correspondent Peter Alexander, who defended Acosta. "The way you treat Sarah Huckabee [Sanders] is disgusting".

Trump also criticized CNN contributor April Ryan. During the press conference, he told her to sit down because he hadn't called on her. Rather, he said he saw him holding on to the microphone as she reached for it.

US President Donald Trump isn't new to fights with journalists. Trump responded in a vicious tone, "What a stupid question".

LSU ranked #7 in CFB playoff rankings
So both teams have one loss, but West Virginia has the best win, the best loss, and it has played the more hard schedule. Kirby Smart told reporters in his weekly press conference he couldn't care where his team is ranked at the moment.

Democrats make gains in state legislatures, governorships
After mocking several defeated Republicans whose losses he attributed to their failure to "embrace" him and his policies, Mr. The U.S. and Saudi Arabia have always been key allies, and Trump made the country his first stop overseas as president.

"When you're in the White House, this is a very sacred place to be", he said.

"CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them", Trump said.

"It wasn't doctored... they gave a close-up view", Trump told reporters on November 9.

Donald Trump lies. He knows it. Sarah Huckabee Sanders repeats his lies. "And the way you treat other people is terrible".

CNN's other White House reporters and producers have been unaffected by the action against Acosta. "Abby Phillip did not ask a "stupid" question today at the White House".

Even as Acosta is muttering these words, Trump begins to mock him: "Oh here we go". [President Trump's] personal insults are nothing new.

Addressing a question about suspending press credentials for other reporters, Trump did not rule out the idea.

None of this means that the White House is justified in removing Acosta's pass.
