No trace of Khashoggi's remains has turned up, even as the 59-year-old journalist's sons appealed on the US television news network CNN on Sunday for the Saudis to return his body so he can be buried in the major Islamic pilgrimage city of Medina with the rest of his family.
He also cited information from Turkish intelligence officials, saying that the 15-member Saudi hit squad that had traveled to Istanbul to kill Khashoggi in the kingdom's consulate spent 15 minutes to dismember Khashoggi's body after he was killed.
Riyadh said the body had been handed to a local collaborator to dispose of, but Saud al-Mujeb, Saudi Arabia's top prosecutor, later rowed back on that.
Earlier this week, Turkish officials said Khashoggi's remains had been dissolved in acid, and none of them survived.
Later, a Turkish official said that Saudi Arabia sent two experts to Istanbul with the specific aim of covering up evidence after the murder.
Erdogan did not give details of the contents of the tapes on Saturday but two sources with knowledge of the issue have told Reuters that Turkey has several audio recordings.
Hatice Cengiz said on Twitter late Thursday that Khashoggi's killers had deprived his loved ones of conducting funeral prayers and burying him in Medina, Saudi Arabia, as he had wished. "They know", Erdogan said.

As Turkey has increased pressure on the Saudis through leaks to the news media on the gruesome killing, Saudi Arabia has been forced to shift its story.
Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says officials knew about the recordings about Jamal Khashoggi. "I have always said since the beginning, these 15 people who came here [Turkey], with plus three, 18 people are now arrested [in Saudi Arabia]", he noted.
However, Erdogan has accused the "highest levels" of the Saudi government of being behind the murder.
Saudi authorities initially denied all knowledge of the Washington Post columnist's fate before later admitting that a group of rogue operators, many part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's inner circle, were responsible.
The news website said the Turkish prosecutor's office has reached the conclusion after investigators found traces of acid in the Saudi consul general's residence and the drains connected to it, in Istanbul.
Following a meeting on Saturday in Paris, U.S. President Donald Trump and French leader Emmanuel Macron agreed that the Saudi authorities needed to shed full light on Khashoggi's murder, a French presidency source said.
