The Green Bay Packers have fired Mike McCarthy after 13 seasons as head coach following Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

"It's important that everybody is on the same page, that we're all moving in the same direction", Philbin said Wednesday. So it wasn't an easy decision, but I just didn't feel like the fit right now was where it needs to be.

"Ponder this. what Championship teams have are great leadership!"

The Packers released a brief statement confirming Moss' dismissal on Tuesday night. "Those are the four things we gotta do the next four weeks, and if we do all those things, we'll be in good shape". It wasn't about - again, you're talking to a guy who's never tweeted in his life, doesn't even know what Twitter is - so again, it's not about a tweet or anything like that.

On Monday in the team's first extended public comments, Packers officials said Rodgers had "nothing to do with" McCarthy being fired.

A close friend on McCarthy's staff, Moss has been with the Packers since 2006. Moss retained that role and also served as an associate head coach since 2007.
