Eagles actually blocked Cody Parkey's double-boink kick

When seeing how close they were to watching their season come to an end, it's still wonderful to think about how the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Chicago Bears during the Wild Card Round since Cody Parkey seemed like he was about to stick it to his former team. Bears kicker Cody Parkey made a field goal, but the Eagles iced him. Later, the guys discussed their level of disappointment in linebacker Khalil Mack's performance and expressed their feelings about the Bears going forward. His next attempt bounced off the goal posts and was no good. The missed kick, which went off the left upright and hit the crossbar, left Bears coach Matt Nagy in disbelief.

Although the NFL's decision probably won't make Parkey feel any better about the kick, it does mean that the miss wasn't totally his fault, and it also means that defensive tackle Treyvon Hester should be viewed as a hero in Philadelphia, because he's the one who got a finger tip on it.

Hester told the Philadelphia Inquirer after the game that he'd gotten a piece of the ball: "Me and Haloti (Ngata) ... we got penetration, got the hand up like Coach always says". Instead, Parkey took the blame and was booed off the field in Chicago.

I saw an interesting theory floating around on Twitter this morning, that the Eagles' timeout to ice Parkey might have helped produce this miss anyway. Tipped off my fingertips.
