LG did not reveal finalised launch details, but the TV will be priced for the "premium" category and is expected to ship later in 2019.

"A rollable TV is basically an OLED TV and it doesn't add material costs, but changing the operating mechanism could add to the costs", LG Electronics President Kwon Bong-seok said at a press conference.

OLED uses self-lighting pixels that can be turned on and off individually for exact control of image brightness and quality, delivering infinite contrast ration optimized for high-dynamic range content. Built on a concept unveiled last year, the 65-inch Signature OLED TV R will be available this year for sale, the company announced on Monday at the CES 2019 here.

LG Display declares war on motion blur with big screen OLED panels

This year, companies including LG, Samsung, and Sony showed-off their latest prototypes at the annual consumer electronics show. Well, from what we've seen on the CES show floor, it looks like 4K is now a thing of the past. The ultra-thin organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display pops up to a full screen and vanishes to the form of an empty TV stand when turned off.

Line View - the screen is partially unrolled, allowing for functions like the clock, weather, photos, and music to be managed. The new TV is equipped with LG's second generation of Alpha 9 intelligent processor and deep learning algorithm for a stunning AI picture and sound quality.

Called the OLED TV R, the device supports up to 50,000 folds and unfolds, and while this may sound like a major drawback at first, it really isn't. Meanwhile, in the "zero view' model the display is completely hidden". For those who want to create a cozy atmosphere, it has a "Mood" mode that plays a video of a fireplace or displays mood-specific light on the screen.
