More than four dozen people have been admitted to hospitals in both districts, and the death toll could climb further, officials said. Some 79 000 litres of tainted liquor were also seized in raids.
At least 72 people have died and several others fallen sick from drinking illegally-brewed liquor containing toxic methanol in several villages in the northern India, officials said.
As noted, only in one of the districts of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh killed 59 people.
Deaths from illegally-produced alcohol, known locally as "hooch" or "country liquor", are a regular occurrence in India, where many can not afford branded spirits.
"However, in the remaining cases unless the viscera report is not available, it is hard for doctors to ascertain clearly that the deaths were caused due to alcohol", A K Pandey, district magistrate Saharanpur said Saturday. "He was better then and slept after coming back home".

"We have confirmed 46 deaths in Saharanpur district but the post-mortem report of only 36 cases suggest they have died due to consumption of alcohol". A magisterial inquiry has already been initiated in the hooch tragedy. "We can't deny a conspiracy this time too".
