Mid-Michigan will be on the edge of a rain-snow line, which could bring a mix of heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain blown around by winds gusting to 40 miles per hour. Even though we won't be down to freezing in DC, a little sleet on the roads could still cause some slippery spots overnight and early Monday morning.

The sun was out on Sunday morning but the National Weather Service says snow will return late in the afternoon into the evening across the Northwest.

Snowfall from Sunday and Monday lingered into the week as below-freezing temperatures gripped the area.

The statement warned that the storm could have "a significant impact" on travel in the region.

After the snow pushes through area, the city and surrounding suburbs could see a few rounds of freezing drizzle before the start of the work week, the weather services said in a hazardous weather outlook. There's a possibility of around an inch of snow and sleet accumulation possible. As our east winds ramp up, they push clouds away from us and up against the eastern side of the Olympic Mountain Range and wring out snow.

The areas in white and light blue will be the first to see the transition from snow to a mix.

According to Yuhas, a winter storm watch will be in effect for most of the Twin Cities.

Meanwhile, enough rain may fall to aggravate the flooding situation from Arkansas, Tennessee and Kentucky, to the southern portions of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.

The snow will then change over to sleet, freezing rain and rain from north to south.
