Chicago Police say "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett has now turned over his phone records from the early morning hours of the reported attack two weeks ago.

The statement is the latest in a back-and-forth between Smollett and police since he reported the attack took place on January 29.

The Chicago PD has been sure to remind the 36-year old thespian of the repercussions of filing a false police report, especially one of such magnitude in such a sensitive time for society in this country. Police are continuing to investigate the alleged attack and have released surveillance images of two unidentified men who are persons of interest in the case.

The assault is being treated as a hate crime since the perpetrators allegedly called Smollett a "fa##ot" and a "ni##r" during the attack. Jussie has voluntarily provided his phone records from within an hour of the attack and given multiple statements to police. The CPD also said in a statement, "We are very appreciative of the victims cooperation however the records provided do not meet the burden for a criminal investigation as they were limited and heavily redacted".

Smollett, 35, told police a rope was placed around his neck and that bleach was poured on him in the lower street levels in Streeterville.

"I've been in this neighborhood five years".

I don't believe it, not around here....

Further lending credence to Smollett's claims, police have confirmed to the outlet that surveillance footage from Smollett's building shows the actor walking around with rope around his neck. "Despite my frustrations and deep concern with certain inaccuracies and misrepresentations that have been spread, I still believe that justice will be served".

"We don't believe this is the case at all but when anyone hands over a redacted and limited record like a PDF of a phone bill for example, those records could be manipulated". "They have cameras everywhere".

Late Monday evening, ABC7 Chicago reported that an empty hot sauce bottle that smelled like bleach was found near the location of the alleged attack. "Why can't they find the attack".

Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson said earlier this month that Smollett has been cooperative with detectives, and that the department is making progress in its investigation.

Threatening letters directed at Smollett were reportedly sent to Fox Studios in Chicago a week before.
