On Monday in Budapest, Pompeo warned that the United States may be forced to scale back certain operations in Europe and elsewhere if countries continue to do business with Chinese telecommunications company Huawei.

According to AP, US officials are very concerned because of Huawei's expansion in Europe, especially in North Atlantic Treaty Organisation members like Hungary, because they consider this to represent "a great threat".

Europe's left-wing has become "the gravedigger of nations, the family and the Christian way of life", Orban said.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto welcomed Pompeo's calls for closer ties and promised more defence cooperation but also brushed off the criticism on relations with Russian Federation and China.

"They are a sovereign nation", Pompeo said of Hungary. The warning was broad but pointedly delivered in Hungary, a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ally and European Union member where Huawei is a major player.

On February 12 in Beijing, the Chinese Foreign Ministry called USA warning against using Huawei equipment "groundless", as the Chinese telecom giant faces espionage fears in a growing number of countries. They get to make their own decisions.

"The overall goal in Central Europe you can see as an analogue to our Asia-Pacific strategy-it emphasizes in vulnerable regions where our rivals, the Chinese and the Russians, are gaining ground that we want to increase our diplomatic, military and cultural engagement", the official told reporters traveling with Pompeo.

Secretary of State Michael Pompeo came close to issuing an us-or-them ultimatum to nations buying from Huawei Technology Co., saying in Hungary that contracts with the Chinese networking giant could limit the availability of USA equipment.

The U.S. has repeatedly accused China of using technology to pilfer trade secrets.

"This is the Hungarians' answer, not immigration", Orban said. He will wrap up the tour with brief stops in Belgium and Iceland.

"We must not let Putin drive wedges between friends in North Atlantic Treaty Organisation", he said, adding that he had also warned of "the dangers of allowing China to gain a bridgehead in Hungary".

Regarding Soros, Orban said it is a "widely known fact that the Hungarian opposition is an assemblage of pro-immigration politicians, which George Soros and the European bureaucrats are keeping on life support". His fiery rhetoric against migrants and refusal to join a new European Union public prosecutor's office focusing on fraud and corruption have also raised concerns.
