"The official description of the film states: "'Greenbrier' tracks the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom". Netflix really helped spur the growth of Breaking Bad's audience, so it's only fitting that they should get the feature-length film, but it's cool that AMC will also get to air the movie so that Breaking Bad comes home in a way.

It's not a big surprise that there would be a direct follow-up to Breaking Bad, which won numerous awards and is heralded by many as one of the greatest shows in modern television, if not of all time.

AMC's Breaking Bad ended its critically acclaimed five-season run with a finale that brought in a series record 10.3 million viewers.

Netflix and AMC have yet to comment on the report.

A film about Jesse Pinkman, Breaking Bad's troubled underling of meth boss Walter White, will return in a feature film to air first on Netflix. Gilligan acknowledged the streamer's contribution in his acceptance speech for the series' first best drama series Emmy win in 2013.

And now it looks like it will be aired on Netflix, according to Deadline. "Not only are we standing up here [with the Emmy], I don't think our show would have even lasted beyond season two", he said. "But I honestly have not even read the script ... there's a question of whether or not we would even see Walter White in this movie", Cranston said.

The as-yet-untitled Breaking Bad film will be written directed by Gilligan, who co-created the show's spin-off Better Call Saul (which has also received a viewership boost thanks to Netflix).

Paul's on-screen counterpart Bryan Cranston confirmed the existence of the movie previous year, but was circumspect on the chances of his teacher-turned-kingpin Walter White returning for a continuation of the story. It was followed by the prequel series Better Call Saul, focused on Bob Odenkirk's small-time lawyer Jimmy McGill, which just got renewed for a fifth season.
