If you don't want to wait, or if you're a Mac user who doesn't want to go all-in on dark mode just to change the color of Chrome, you can of course venture into the Chrome themes settings to pick a color of your very own.

Android Q has finally arrived in its initial testing phases via Beta 1 and one of the biggest expected features, a system-wide dark mode, seems to have arrived in an nearly entirely dysfunctional state.

There is, however, an enormous caveat to the new dark mode. You can then select Dark at the Appearance option, and your Chrome will appear in dark mode.

As you can see from the screenshot attached below, once you've updated your Google Chrome web browser to version 73.0.3683.75 and relaunch it, you'll notice that Chrome is now dark by default if you're using the Dark Mode on macOS Mojave 10.14 and later.

While previously you can download themes through the Chrome store to get yourself a DIY dark mode, the latest update will automatically turn your Chrome browser into dark mode if you've already enabled it in your Mac settings. The update also integrates early versions of a Skip Ad feature for PIP videos and the ability to quickly jump back to the video's tab or app. Aside from bug fixes and performance improvements, it brings Data Saver support for HTTPS pages on Android, new "Enhanced spell check" and "Safe browsing extended reporting" features, as well as support for media keys among others.
