Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami was on Thursday charged with domestic violence and sexual harassment by the police here on the basis of his wife's complaint. He has been charged under IPC 498A (Dowry Harassment) and 354A (Sexual Harassment). "The case will begin in a month", a senior officer of the Kolkata Police said. Hasin Jahan had even levelled match fixing accusations against Shami following which he was omitted from the central contracts list by the BCCI pending investigations.

The couple's bitter spat came into limelight on 7 March previous year; however, Shami had said that all this was a conspiracy to ruin his career.
