QB Fitzpatrick agrees to Dolphins deal

Fitzpatrick's contract features incentives that can increase the deal to $17 million-$20 million, Schefter reports.

Ryan Fitzpatrick will have a starting job, and the Dolphins will have a lot of losses.

Prior to his time in Tampa Bay, Fitzpatrick started three games for the Rams (2005), 12 for the Cincinnati Bengals (2008), 53 for the Buffalo Bills (2009-12), nine for the Tennessee Titans (2013), 12 for the Houston Texans (2014) and 27 for the New York Jets (2015-16).

What doesn't seem fitting, however, is bringing in a 36-year-old, journeyman QB to be your No. 1 guy.

The former Harvard star set an National Football League record with three-straight games with at least 400 yards passing. As a whole, this is a positive signing for the Dolphins, because Fitzpatrick comes at pennies on the dollar in comparison to other starting quarterbacks. The Dolphins traded Ryan Tannehill to the Titans last week and failed to sign Tyrod Taylor as another potential replacement. And before Miami signed Fitzpatrick, Jake Rudock and Luke Falk were the only quarterbacks on the roster.

In 2015, Fitzpatrick threw for over 30 touchdowns and almost 4,000 yards with the New York Jets, and he's always been great at hooking up with deep threats or big receivers on the outside.
