A month after the publication of that alleged affair, Bezos accused the AMI of blackmail, saying it had threatened to publish his intimate photos unless he said publicly that the tabloid's reporting was not politically motivated.
"Despite the false and unsubstantiated claims of Mr.de Becker, American Media has, and continues to, refute the unsubstantiated claims that the materials for our report were acquired with the help of anyone other than the single source who first brought them to us ... there was no involvement by any other third party whatsoever".
He didn't delve into details but added, "it is unclear to what degree, if any, AMI was aware of the details".
In January, the United States tabloid the "National Enquirer" published a series of messages between Mr Bezos and Ms Sanchez shortly after he announced his planned divorce from wife of 25 years, MacKenzie Bezos.
De Becker said the results of his investigation have been turned over to federal officials.

"Some Americans will be surprised to learn that the Saudi government has been very intent on harming Jeff Bezos since last October, when the Post began its relentless coverage of Khashoggi's murder", Becker said in The Daily Beast article.
Mr Bezos has previously claimed his decision to order the investigation angered National Enquirer boss David Pecker, because it may have uncovered business ties between Mr Pecker and the Saudi Arabian Government.
Earlier this month, Saudi Arabia reiterated its rejection of calls for an global, independent investigation into the murder of Khashoggi, insisting it was well equipped to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The security expert said that the demands AMI made towards him and Bezos only confirmed his suspicions that the source for the Enquirer's story on Bezos's private texting and the source of the intimate pics he shared with his lover Lauren Sanchez is not her brother, Michael Sanchez, or not only him.
He said the Saudi Government had "unleashed its cyber army on Bezos" and orchestrated a "multi-pronged campaign" against him, including boycotts of Amazon and its Saudi subsidiary, Souq.
A representative for AMI did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
