Back nearly two years after Season 7 premiered, Sunday's "Winterfell" Season 8 debut snared 17.4 million viewers for the premium cabler on-air and HBO Go and HBO Now.

Kit Harington "broke down" when filming wrapped on Game of Thrones. Our review of the premiere episode is here, but we have plenty more GoT goodness beyond that. "When Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) and Lord Varys (Conleth Hill) sit in a stagecoach, cracking jokes about each others" genitals, it seems as if the scene needs a laugh track. It's cute except for the fact that Jon is Daenerys' nephew, although both are blissfully unaware of their relation.

Since birth, the King of the North has believed he was the bastard son of Ned Stark (played by Sean Bean) and assumed the woman who brought him into the world was nothing more than a commoner. "But there's something about the incessant nature of what we were doing that I think added to the show's authenticity". Is Sam over the death of his father and brother? "You gave up your crown to save your people", Sam says. Jaime proceeds to look slightly surprised, though trailers of this nature have been known to employ a few clever editing tricks. A quick glimpse of Tormund arriving in Winterfell can also be seen.

Not wanting their relationship to be found out, Jaime shoved Bran out the tower window leaving him unable to walk. More than that, the whole episode was largely about reunions, as the characters gathered in Winterfell to prepare to fight the White Walkers, who have already busted through The Wall, thanks to Daenerys's zombified dragon.

But although the premiere spared the central characters, fans should know not to get too comfortable.
